wetrooms designed to be used by people with limited mobility. The innovative
solution is extremely simple to install and features a safe, durable and aesthetically
pleasing design, making it ideal for bath-to-shower conversions in addition to
new wetrooms in both domestic and healthcare environments.
Wetrooms are an increasingly popular alternative to conventional bathrooms
in homes, hospitals and care facilities, due to their ease of access and the
associated hygiene benefits. An essential element in wetrooms that are to be
used by people with limited mobility is an effective, discreet and safe drainage
system. The new ACO solution combines a stainless steel channel and textured,
slip-resistant grating to meet these criteria in conformance with British Standards.
The floor-level system can be used safely by a wide range of users, including
disabled people and the elderly.
The affordable drainage system has been designed with the "lifetime home" in
mind, and can be installed quickly and easily with no special tools. There is
no need to raise the room floor height; all that is necessary is a 1.5% fall
from the corner of the shower room and minimal modification to joists. The versatile
solution is ideal for wetrooms with vinyl sheet flooring and can be used on timber
or concrete floors. The system ensures all water enters the channel, confining
it to the bathing area of the wetroom and reducing the risk of slipping.
Wetroom designers and installers can choose between a trapped waste outlet measuring
40mm in diameter or a pumped outlet measuring 22mm in diameter, depending on
the requirements of the wetroom. The system is capable of accommodating a high
flow rate of up to 0.4 l/s (gravity waste) removing water from the wetroom floor
quickly and safely, while an installer-friendly secure mechanical vinyl clamp
ensures the system is leak-free. Once installed, the hygienic drainage
solution is simple to clean, with easily accessible and removable parts.
